Castle Tarasp

Looking out over the valley of Engadine, the Castle Tarasp was built in 1040 to symbolise its location. It belonged to Tyrol, making it a Habsburg enclave in the Engadine until 1803. The territory of the present day Tarasp including the castle was never overrun and is now privately owned. Presently, this imposing fortress provides guided tours and draws lots of visitors every year.

Its main treasure is the castle organ, with 2500 pipes on which plenty of concerts are held regularly for public viewing. So if you are more inclined to listening soothing music, visit the Castle Tarasp during a concert and be enraptured with the castle’s music.
