La Chaux Carnival

Another amazing carnival with the purpose of saying goodbye to the cold, winter days is the one held in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This vibrant celebration is once again characterised with colourful street parades, live music everywhere and a fantastic dose of Swiss craziness. The La Chaux Carnival include highlights such as the election of Miss Carnival, a special children’s procession, a flea market with a parade of masked characters within a five-hour long period.

The festivities culminates on Sunday through the burning of a giant snowman. However, this coming Carnival 2009 was cancelled by local authorities but is expected to be back in full swing by the year 2010.
